We are living in a time when worship
has become a distinct priority for the Christian community.
For years the church has emphasized evangelism, teaching, fellowship,
missions, and service while neglecting the very source of its
power -- worship. Recently, however, many churches are experiencing
a Spirit-led renewal in their understanding and practice of
the praise and worship of God.
What do we mean by "worship
or praise music"? The two terms are often used
interchangeably and can be defined as:
- the reverent love and devotion
accorded a deity
- the religious forms by which
this love is expressed
- ardent devotion; adoration
- to honor and love as a deity
- to regard with ardent or adoring
esteem or devotion
- a feeling of profound love
and admiration
- show devotion to
- the expression of approval,
commendation, or admiration
- the extolling or exaltation
of a deity, ruler, or hero
- to voice approbation, commendation,
or esteem
- to express warm approbation
of, commendation for, or admiration for
- to extol or exalt
Robinson Fire! music is
"all about all of that".
Robinson Fire! has a Worship
Team (some say that the term Praise Band puts an emphasis
on "human performance" rather that a group that works
together to
lead the congregation) that plays a wide variety of contemporary
Christian songs during our Sunday morning service. Any clapping
after a song should be 100% for God and NOT as an act of appreciation
or congratulations for the performance of the those playing/singing
up front.
You'll hear a range of music from
slow, soft, and soothing songs that allow for a quiet time of
introspective personal praise to fast tempo, loud(er), high
energy, exciting songs that serve to build up those attending
into one cohesive, jubilant shout!
