Robinson Fire!, is an exciting new contemporary Christian Worship service being launched on October 9, 2005 by the Robinson Presbyterian Church.

A few of the goals of WHY this type of service was created include:

  • an alternative to the current "traditional church service" that has served, and continues to serve, the local area since 1887
  • to be able to better attract those who do not believe in a higher power, those who are not sure what to believe, or those who "used to go to church"
  • although Charlotte is in the "buckle of the Bible Belt", over 1/2 the population is "disconnected" (40+% are "plugged in")
  • to better serve the Kingdom of God here on Earth & in Heaven

A few interesting facts about "the church" and the Presbyterian Church USA include:

  • the earliest Christian church, almost 2000 years ago, consisted of Jews who had personally known Jesus and heard his teachings
  • the church gradually grew and spread from the Middle East to all over the world
  • today, the earth's population is estimated to be almost 6.5 billion & over 2.1 billion consider themselves Christians (that's a LOT of people that heard the message of God/Jesus AND it made enough sense for them to believe it!)
  • the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has approximately 2.4 million members
  • 11,100 congregations and 14,000 ordained and active ministers
  • Presbyterians trace their history to the 16th century and the Protestant Reformation
  • Our heritage, and much of what we believe, began with the French lawyer John Calvin (1509-1564), whose writings crystallized much of the Reformed thinking that came before him
